I purchased the book for my son who is looking to get into the commercial construction industry, and I''m going off of what he told me. If you are looking to learn pretty much everything there is about the construction industry, from the types of projects, to project procurement, different delivery methods, estimation and pricing, and so on and so forth, this book provides a very in - depth analysis of every possible area of the field you could think of. It''s very well written and covers every possible sector of the industry in immense detail.

With that being said, I would have loved to see a few more real - world examples in the book. The review questions are nice for reinforcing the knowledge, and there are a few asides where the author talks about some real - world instances, but ultimately, you will need to get onto a construction job site to truly make the most out of this knowledge. This book is great for anyone in the engineering field who may be considering a career in construction, but you definitely will need to get some experience to make the most of what you learn in the book. I encourage reading it without skipping a single page, as every word in this text is useful regarding all things construction.

Local 79 mason tender gal here. The book is very informational and I only just started reading! I’m very excited to read more about what knowledge this book has to offer me! My only issue is the pages fused together at the bottom for some reason causing minor tears in the brand new book. I had to to rip them apart just to be able to flatten the page and read, very weird. Other than that I’m enjoying it!

Great book unless construction technology is very very new to you. Even so, still a great book. Love the BIM introduction. As a GC and seasoned professional in the field; one small comment - CSI Master Format 2004 in the fourth chapter needs a tiny updating especially to include Division 00 - Procurement and Contracting Requirement. Will read it again in the coming month. Definitely a keep for reference. Brings new light to show how high up the chain the construction manager is. A great reminder - successful construction is a team sport that requires competent players.

This is literally a “jump start” as in starting from zero.

Unless you are absolutely new and need a resource look elsewhere.

This is an excellent book if you haven''t gotten any of the prior editions, but do not waste your time and money if you already have the second edition. The third edition is basically a copy and paste from the last one plus other information.
